Whatever Happened to the LIVING GOD?

Jeremiah 10:10

But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king:

Why is it when we speak or even quote from the Bible we are always speaking in the past tense?  We speak of the God of old but really, He is never really presented as being here with us in present tense.

The same is true with Jesus.  We have God hidden away somewhere and when it comes to Jesus, Lord only knows but he’s never here with us and when His name is brought up His name is in the 3rd person.

So I’m not really even arguing the GOD IS DEAD thing, but that God is alive.  And since God is alive, where have we hid Him?

We speak of Jesus dwelling on the earth where he performed His ministry for three years, was crucified, buried and arose again where he walked on the earth for 40 days and then ascended into Heaven.

This is all good but now we are to be the light source as the Holy Spirit dwells in us.  That is evidence of the Life of God and His son, Jesus.  So then, we should not simply be speaking ABOUT God, we should be demonstrating the spirit of God here on earth, now.

I affirm the Living God is here is alive is working and speaking and healing and leading today.  The living God has NOT gone away and we should not speak about Him as such.  He is more than the God of old, but here now, today and forever.

      1. I feel that often God is viewed as not here, but He is off far, far away in heaven, not engaged unless we call or need Him.. My mom said that some one asked her what should they do, and she said what would Jesus tell you to do. It struck me because God is standing right here. Ever rotten thing we have and will ever do, God is standing right here, and we are doing it in the presence of the Almighty God. He isn’t an absentee parent. How would her friend feel if she did something and looked and saw her mom or dad looking at her? Mortified would be the normal reaction. And yet we do it in front of God all the live long day. Because He is right here with us, with ever breath, every step, every word and deed. It’s not just a list being made somewhere, and we will answer for it later. Our every action, He is standing right here witnessing it. He is here, right here watching me type this and watching you read it. He has never left us. This has been something that convicted me to the core. All the horrible things I did in my life, I did it right in front of God. Can you imagine? I didn’t not until that moment, and it has helped me because not that I want to be hidden, for nothing is hidden but to so totally disrespect the One that gives me everything, that fights for me everyday, and I would just behave in such a way right in front of Him. It’s beyond shameful, disrespectful, and down right ungrateful. I wrote something months ago and posted it today. I talks about where I met God, and where I got to know Him. It is in the present tense, not in the past, like you said, He is alive, and He is present. hahaha sorry to write such a long reply :):):)

    1. @Margaret

Tom has a point. His post is excellent, but what people add to the comments in our blogs is often what makes them worth the effort.

What your comment here (https://hardtimesministries.wordpress.com/2018/04/07/whatever-happened-to-the-living-god/#comment-1582) illustrates is the meaning of a mature and well developed conscience. When when understand and believe in our heart that God is and that He is always with us we have a mature and well developed conscience.

      1. Thank you for your kindness Citizen Tom :):) If you see any of that in me, that is God. He is teaching me everyday, and I’m trying. He is Good, and patient that is for sure, those things I am an example of. Your words are encouraging, thank you. I ask God to bless you :):):)
